Elections
In 2024, PRACDL will elect a new President and three additional Board members. The terms of Linda Backiel (President for 1 year), Jennie Espada, Ricardo Lozada, and Jorge Rivera Ortíz are expiring. The terms of Ian Teron (current Secretary), Isabel Mattina (current Treasurer), José Guillermo Perez (current Vice President) and Laura Soto have an additional year and will provide fresh perspectives and experience for the Board going into 2024. The FPD or designee is a fixed member of the Board.
Only the President is separately nominated; once the remaining slots are filled, the new Board determines its officers.
Nominations will open on January 8, 2024. You will receive a separate email form to do so. You may nominate anyone who is then a member, and/or who will attend the February 8 meeting and have paid 2024 dues by that date. You may NOT nominate anyone until that person has confirmed to you that he or she is willing to serve on the Board (or as President) and expects to have the time to do so during 2024 and 2025.
BYLAWS
Here is a copy of the final revised amended Bylaws to be voted on at the Annual Meeting. Some revisions were made at the October 26 meeting, which fell short of a quorum but resulted in a detailed and productive conversation. Please read it carefully. It would amend the current Bylaws and the version circulated before the October 26 meeting to eliminate the category of temporarily relocated members, but make them regular members so long as they also continue to practice law in Puerto Rico. After much discussion, it was decided that this better protected the interests of PRACDL and its members.
